This set recreates the airlock of the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS), an analogue space station built by the Mars Society in the Utah desert. This is a first iteration exploring the idea of the analogue station as a fictional intervention - reframing the landscape to render Earth as another planet. By imagining the Earth strange, scientists and analogue astronauts are making the distant familiar through generating extraterrestrial experiences with “impossible” immediacy.
